POUND CARSHOW & PICNIC WAS A HUGE SUCCESS

The 11th Annual Village Of Pound Fireman’s Car show & Picnic held on June 27th & 28th was a huge success!  The weekend started on Friday night with a Little League Tournament and the Lena Mini Modified Mower pulls showing the crowd what these machines can do and boy were they loud!  The entertainment that evening was the Blue Brother Revue Tribute by Ron Vandenbusch.  Saturday events started with the conclusion of the Little League Tournament at the park and the Annual Classic Car Show on Business 141 hosted by Allen Rosner & Family bringing in approximately 200 entries.  The entries ranged from old to new with some real sharp looking classics for everyone to view.  After strolling down the street gazing at your favorite car, you could make your way to the Village Hall where Trustee Mary Meyer hosted Village history in the mini museum.  There were photos, articles, quilts and more for those interested in 100 years of Pound happenings.  After your fill of history, people headed down to the Pound Park for some more exciting family activities.  There were farm and modified tractors pulling their way down the track, showing off their stuff in front of a large crowd cheering them on.  Following the tractors were the 4 x 4 trucks & semi class pullers demonstrating the power they have under the hood; there were some big machines showing their stuff.  Bouncers for the kids and raffle tickets to buy for  the winning of a few special items or money.  A special bucket for a ½ a hog or ¼ of beef, donated by Meatski’s Quality Meats, was won by Larry Kaminski (beef) and Scott Kohl (hog).  Another special raffle was for a .50 caliber Muzzle Loader donated by Scott Fuelle Painting & Ann Fuelle Photography and won by Bruce Wagner.  If the special raffles weren’t what you were looking for, then you could try your luck at the tiered money raffle drawing. Money raffle winners: $1000-Micheal York, $750–James Stank, $500-James Dean, $250–Nolan Zeitler and Curt Lentz, $200-Dan Caine and KBM Construction, $150-Don Bader, Greyson Gross and Al Wos, $100-Michael Nowak, Jay Martens and Jeff Gusick, $50-Greyson Gross and Rick Turtenwald.  The day continued with music by Special Moments DJ Service, The Legends Show by Ron Vandenbusch and to end the weekend entertainment was Star Six Nine…getting everyone on their feet and shaken their booty.  Then, to finish off the evening the community got to witness the best fireworks show in Wisconsin with attendance throughout the community of more than 10,000 for this grand display.  Specialty Fireworks, Kris Platt and crew did another amazing job with the fireworks show this year to celebrate the Village centennial.  The ½ hour fireworks show lit up the skies and you could see them for miles.  There were people from all over WI who were in attendance and were amazed by what they saw in the sky over the small Village of Pound. The Bull family of Delafield said, “I can’t believe this little town could put on this kind of show…the best fireworks show I’ve ever seen”, and Kucan of Milwaukee said “we’re back…we wouldn’t miss it!”  A Special Thank you to Crivitz Museum for the loan of the quilt and Homespun Quilters for the beautiful quilt made for the Village in honor of our centennial and all the people who helped, support, and participate in making this picnic a huge success… another great year to add to the history books!  .
Special Thank You to ALL Sponsors, workers, volunteers and supporters of this fundraising event...we would not have been able to do this without you!
